A couple months ago the official udev version in Gentoo was ok living side-by-side with the coldplug package. At some point in the development, however, the two packages began to conflict. I tried at the time to unmerge coldplug and install udev, but… well… my wireless card (a built-in broadcom card) stopped working in the lappy. That’s not really good. I’m not sure why, but I didn’t really try to figure out the issue… I just masked >=udev-089 at the time.

Anyway, in case anyone had the same issue as me, I decided to give it another try and found that the latest (udev-110) works perfectly happy on my system now.
